A Basic Introduction About Computer





Sure you already know what is the name of the computer, the computer is an electronic device consisting of a wide range of components which are all mutually supportive working computer system.

Now the computer is something that absolutely should be known by everyone because the computer is closely related with the development of technology in the world, as we see that a variety of electronic equipment now not to use the system analog anymore like it used to be but now a lot of electronic equipment that is already switched to digital systems which have a function and a more sophisticated filtur, with the rapid development of technology then it is obligatory for us to always be dynamic in addressing these developments.

The computer has many benefits that aim to help humans in completing his work with even faster and easier all the work should be done by working on our computers as robots that are already in the program for do a job-specific work or there is also a robot which is controlled by remote control.




Once you know what is a computer, then it is time you also have to know the components that exist on a computer. Components on the computer have 2 internal components namely and externally.


A. There are four external components that must exist to be able to operate a computer:


 1. The CPU because of all the control center is located on the CPU,
2. Monitor because the monitor function to display all the processes are done by the CPU so that we can see the data that exists on that computer,
3. mouse called a mouse, because it is similar to a rat ... the mouse function is to move the cursor on the monitor so we operate the computer
4. the keyboard because all text is entered as well as the command can be performed by pressing the keys on the keyboard.

Other external components which is supporting:


  • 1. a functioning Printer to print text or images from computer to paper
  • 2. The CD/DVD - Rom/RW for read or write CD/DVD Disk
  • 3. the modem consists of modem GPRS, ADSL, or various other types of modem function to get connected to the internet
  • 4. the speakers can listen to the sound on your computer, and many more external components we can add ...

The computer consists of three main components which cannot be separated, i.e.;


1. Hardware (hardware).

 is the physical equipment of computers that we can see and feel. The hardware consists of;

  • Input/Output Devices (i/o Device) consists of input and output devices, such as keyboard and printer.
  • Storage Device (storage devices) is a medium for storing data such as floppy disk, hard disk, CD-I, flash disks etc.
  • Monitor/Screen Monitor is a means of showing what we type on the keyboard after being processed by the processor. Monitor called also with Visual Display Unit (VDU).
  • The casing of the Unit was the site of all of the computer equipment, be it cards, motherboards, peripheral and Central Procesing Unit (CPU). The casing of this unit is also called with the System Unit.
  • Central Procesing Unit (CPU) is one of the most important computer parts, because of the type of processor determines also the type of computer. Well whether or not a computer, the type of computer, computer prices, determined mainly by the type of processors. The more sophisticated computer processors, then his ability will be getting better and usually the price will be more expensive.


2. Software (software)

a computer program is useful for running a job as desired. The program is written in a specific language which is understood by the computer. The software consists of several types, namely;



  1. Operating systems, such as DOS, Unix, Linux, Novell, OS/2, Windows, is the software that serves to enable the entire device installed on your computer so that each can communicate with each other. Without any operating system then the computer cannot be enabled at all.
  2. Utility programs, such as Norton Utilities, Scandisk, PC Tools, etc. Utility programs serve to help fill a shortage of/or drawbacks of the operating system, such as PC Tools can perform formatting command as DOS, but PC Tools able to provide captions and animations are nice in the process of formatting. Files that have been deleted by the DOS can not be reinstated but with auxiliary program it can be done.
  3. Application programs, such as GL, MYOB, Payroll etc. Is a special program that performs a specific job, such as salary in a company. Then this program is only used by the financial section just cannot be used by other departments. This application program usually created by a computer programmer in accordance with request/need someone/company/institution for purposes of interennya.
  4. Program packages, such as Microsofr office, Adobe fotoshop, macromedia studio, open office etc are programs that are compiled in such a way that it can be used by many people with different interests. Like MS-office, can be used by the Treasury to make notes, or any part of the Administration to make a letter of offer and more.
  5. Programming language, PHP, ASP, Visual Basic, dBase, etc. Special software is used to create computer programs, whether it's the operating system, package etc

 3. Brainware (User),


User is personnel-personnel who are directly involved in the use of computers, such as Systems analysts, programmers, operators, users, etc. On a fairly large organization, the issue of computerization are usually dealt with by a special section known as part of EDP (Electronic Data Processing), or commonly referred to with the EDP Department, headed by a Manager EDP.
