Synology Product 2023? What Is New?
Synology Latest Product 2023? DSM 7.2 to AI Camera
Synology today introduced upcoming solutions that help businesses become more resilient and can better address IT challenges through the flexibility of hybrid cloud architectures and the ever-evolving ecosystem of integrated solutions.
Joanne Weng (Sales Director of Synology) said Synology has always delivered significant innovations across products, including data management, data protection and IT infrastructure security, setting higher standards for reliability, security and scalability.
Here are Synology's products and services that will launch next year:
A safer foundation
DSM 7.2, coming in early 2023, will introduce full-volume encryption to improve storage performance by 48% over shared-folder-based encryption. DSM 7.2 will also introduce a "write once, read many" or WORM folder. This folder can prevent data modification or deletion for a period of time. And like Synology's new permanent backup application, Hyper Backup, which prohibits any changes after data has been created, this feature will help protect data from ransomware and cyber threats.
Easy sharing and collaboration Updates to Synology's private cloud solution, Synology Drive, help keep files more secure during file sharing between teams with watermarks and download policies. Remote wipe capabilities also help minimize security risks by deleting synced folders from stolen Windows and macOS clients. Automatic login with AD credentials and provision of backup and synchronization tasks, makes large deployments simpler.
Next-generation storage servers
Also coming soon in 2023 is the latest scale-out system designed for file and object storage. Scale-out clusters will be much faster than Synology's largest solution today, with linear performance scalability and capabilities so that more units can be added.
The first-generation scale-out system will support clusters of up to 60 servers for more than 12 PB of storage, sequential write performance of more than 60 GB/s, and more than 80,000 concurrent connections. The cluster will provide up to 99.99% availability and support the Hyper Backup and Active Backup data protection suites, backup applications from Synology.
Data Protection
Worldwide backup management The new management platform for Active Backup and C2 Backup aims to enable seamless management, deployment, and monitoring of backup tasks across enterprise IT infrastructure, regardless of location or scale.
"This new platform brings together Synology on-premises and cloud-based solutions, giving IT admins and MSPs the most efficient tools to protect and ensure the timely recovery of any device or service.
AI-powered camera
Soon to launch in early 2023, Synology's 500 Series IP cameras will offer superior performance, security, and integration with all camera settings manageable directly from Surveillance Station, Synology's video surveillance management application. Edge AI capabilities, such as maintaining intrusion detection zones, reduce server recording capacity to enable a wider range of AI-powered deployments, while dedicated processing can speed up the search for people and vehicles anywhere in a video feed.
Coming in two form factors, the Synology 500 Series cameras feature a 5MP sensor for a wide-angle of 16:9, 3K (2880x1620) at 30 FPS. The camera supports PoE and withstands any weather (IP67), allowing for flexible placement indoors or outdoors. Synology 500 Series cameras are US NDAA/TAA enabled and designed for security, introducing similar security innovations found in enterprise products from Synology.
Hybrid-cloud service
Synology's application, Active Insight, was developed to automatically prevent user activity in violation of data protection rules. New data loss prevention features can monitor user activity such as logins, file access, creation of shared tasks, while comparing uploaded or shared file checksums.
When a breach is triggered, the system can send an alert or take actions such as disconnecting a suspected ransomware infection.
Secure devices and credentials
The Synology C2 Identity platform continues to evolve with a focus on combining good security practices with convenience.
In 2023, C2 Identity will be upgraded to enable passwordless login to online and on-premises services and devices. Integration with Windows Hello and Apple's Face ID/Touch ID makes it easy to authenticate on endpoints managed within C2 Identity.
Combined with the upcoming C2 Identity user portal, employees using managed endpoints can automatically sign in to SAML-enabled web services, with the option to enable 2FA for more sensitive services such as ERP systems or enterprise CRM.
